Today’s recipe is one that I’ve been meaning to blog for a while.. a healthy smoothie recipe with one of my favourite ‘new’ ingredients.. peanut butter! I say ‘new’ as I’ve only just recently tried it (can you believe it!).
Peanut butter is SO good for you as it’s packed with protein, healthy fats and Vitamin E – essential for beautiful skin! This smoothie is DELICIOUS.. so creamy and yet SO good for you.. and all in just 270 calories 🙂
Banana & Peanut Butter Smoothie
Ingredients
- 200ml of Hazelnut or Almond Milk (I use Alpro)
- 1 frozen banana (peel before freezing!)
- 1 tbsp (15g) peanut butter*
- 1/2 tsp honey
- Ice - optional**
Instructions
- Pop all the ingredients into a blender
- Blend
- Drink & enjoy!
Notes
*If you swap 1 tbsp of peanut butter for 2 tbsp of PB2 then the smoothie is only 209 Kcal, 37g carbs, 7g protein and 4g fat.
**For a chocolate kick also add 1 tsp of cocoa too.

Hi Nicola! Aw I’m so glad you like it 🙂 Thanks for your comment – I’m such a massive banana & PB fan too!! xx
Hi this recipe is yum, I like to chop up bananas and keep them in the freezer. This means I have banana on hand for smoothies all of the time and it’s nice and cold – no need for ice.
Author
I do that too 🙂 Great tip! Thanks for your comment Edel! x
Hi, I’ve just had this smoothie for breakfast and added some green and Blacks cocoa powder. It really is delicious and so smooth. A great start to the day. Xxx

I love your addition! Thank you so much for your comment 🙂 x
If I make this and put it in a protein shaker to take to work would it be ok or is it best to drink straight away?
Author
Because of the banana it may go slightly brown but should still be tasty if fairly chilled 🙂 x
What other fruits could I try instead of bananas? what would you recommend Nic?
Author
I would use any that you like! Mango or pineapple perhaps?! x
fab I give it a go thank you, though about strawberries but like sound of pineapple wouldn’t of thought of that Thanks! x
Author
Oooh yes strawberries would be nice – you should check out my other smoothie recipes too.. maybe a green monster with spinach and blueberries and banana?! x
Yeah been looking at that one to, as I love blueberry!! And smoothies so its a win win!!! ^-^ xx
You may have said this and I may have missed it, but would you recommend drinking your smoothies after my work out for people looking to lose fat and build muscle? And if so, would they be instead of a meal? or could I eat a meal a few hours later?
Thank you
