Chocolate-Orange Mug Cake

Chocolate-Orange Mug Cake

It’s the ultimate cake for one and it takes only 5 minutes to prep and cook!

When you get a late-night craving or want to have a small dessert, this chocolate mug cake recipe is great for you!

Although those fancy desserts in glass ramekins are delicious, sometimes they are quite expensive and are high in fat, added sugar and calories and so should be enjoyed in moderation. You probably have all the ingredients in your pantry already and it will cost a FRACTION of the normal cost (& sugar!)!

As you know, I’m a big fan of the 80/20 lifestyle so this is one of my favourites when I just want to sit back, put my feet up and enjoy it – I do hope you feel the same when you try it!⁣

✔️ 3 level tbsp (30g) self-raising flour⁣

✔️ ¼ tsp baking powder⁣

✔️ 2 tsp cacao powder⁣

✔️ 1 tsp brown sugar⁣

✔️ Juice of ½ an orange⁣

✔️ 1 tsp orange zest⁣

✔️ 3-4 tbsp milk (of any kind)⁣

✔️ 1 tsp marmalade (optional)⁣*

✔️ 1 tbsp chocolate chips⁣

* If you don’t have any marmalade at home, don’t worry – it’s still delicious without but together with the melted chocolate chips it creates a wonderfully gooey texture that you’d never be able to tell it was whipped up in the microwave!⁣

1️⃣ Add the dry ingredients (except the chocolate chips) to a medium-large sized mug and stir to combine.⁣

2️⃣ Then, add the milk and orange juice and mix through until smooth.⁣

3️⃣ Add the chocolate chips, mix again and then add a tsp of marmalade to the middle (optional), take a spoonful of the mixture and place on top so it’s encased in the chocolate mix.⁣

4️⃣ Pop in the microwave** and heat for 60 seconds or until set on top (depending on the size of your mug – keep an eye out for when it may overflow!) ⁣

😋 Best served warm!!

**Please keep in mind that because every microwave is different, the results may vary and you may overcook this mug cake if you are not careful.
