Smoothies are a great way of getting a whole lot of goodness in just one glass, and this Green Monster *super* Smoothie recipe has to be one of the most nutritious of all. At first I didn’t believe that a smoothie made with GREEN VEGETABLES could taste good but oh my how I was wrong.. this smoothie is super delicious as well as being nutritious and I caught my sister’s reaction to it on camera for you all to see (just click the video!).

This green monster smoothie is crammed with antioxidants, vitamins (including vitamins A & C), minerals (including calcium & iron) and fibre and provides just 98 calories per glass (this recipe serves 2).

You can also add a scoop of protein powder to make it the perfect *post work-out* smoothie!

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana (peel it first!)
  • 1 small handful (1/2 cup) blueberries
  • 2 small handfuls (1 cup) spinach
  • 200ml milk - I used unsweetened almond milk
  • Optional - Scoop of protein powder

Method

Step 1

Add half the frozen banana to your blender along with the blueberries, half of the spinach and all of the milk

Step 2

*Blend*

Step 3

Add the other half of the frozen banana and the rest of the spinach (add the optional protein powder now!)

Step 4

*Blend*

Step 5

Serve & enjoy!

P.S I always get asked what blender I have and it’s a waring pro blender.. it’s fantastic and great if you make smoothies several times a week (it’s heavy duty!). Check out Amazonfor more blending options!

This is gorgeous! So nice that I drunk both servings & then made some more.
I even convinced my non-breakfasting non-fruit loving teenager to try it & he loved it too!
Guess that’s his breakfast sorted from now on :-)

I loved it! Tasted beautiful and I was extremely dubious about spinach and blueberries!

It will definitely become a more regular thing!

Wow this was so tasty! Looks a little weird (husband asked why I was drinking algae!). And the ingredients were cheap too! Healthy and inexpensive breakfast works for me!

Tried this with frozen blueberries and it was delicious! Then added a few more and poured it into Ice Lolly moulds – just as nice and my 6 year old loves it too! (although fortunately for me he loves spinach anyway, so doesn’t need to be tricked!!)
