Banana, Kiwi & Spinach Smoothie

Banana, Kiwi & Spinach Smoothie

Following on from yesterday’s healthy “Sun Set Smoothie” recipe made by the amazing Si, here is my delicious “Tropical Green Smoothie” recipe which again contains 5 different fruits and vegetables; which means that you end up with a glass that’s packed with micronutrient goodness and fibre!

I personally love my greens but I know that more often than not, my love for the green stuff is not shared; which is why if you can sneak it into a fruit smoothie then it’s a great way of eating them without grimacing! Adding greens to a fruit smoothie might change the colour (and make it greener!) but it certainly does not alter the taste. I always add a handful of spinach to my morning smoothie which means that along with the banana that’s two of my five a day consumed before I leave the house!

This green smoothie recipe is bursting with potassium from the banana and optional coconut water (needed for healthy blood pressure), iron and folate from the kale and spinach (needed for energy and reproduction respectively), vitamin C from the kiwi (essential for our immune function) and antioxidants from the apple juice – always juice 100% fruit juice (rather than a ‘fruit juice DRINK’ as it may have added sugar).

You can watch me make this smoothie recipe in Si’s video – do let me know which you prefer!!

Nutritional stats provided are for 1/2 of the amount made (as shown in the video!).
