How to Make Pumpkin Spice

Spices add calorie free flavour and most have extra health benefits too.. for example cinnamon can help to stabilise blood sugar levels and ginger can even help with feelings of sickness.

A lot of recipes that I’ve been looking at though call for ‘pumpkin spice’ .. and although this humble spice may be readily available in the USA I for one cannot find it in English Supermarkets! Hence the reason for this recipe.. if you like cinnamon then you will love this home-made pumpkin spice recipe.. it tastes great on porridge or in baking 🙂

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon of ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon of allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoon of cinnamon

Method

  1. Add all the spices to a sealed jar
  2. Shake to mix
  3. Sprinkle on your porridge, use in baking or make a pumpkin spiced latte!

Hmm, wonder if this is what Starbucks use to make their Pumpkin Spice Lattes? And before you say it, I only buy from coffee shops as a rare treat as I drink water pretty much all the time. I do have the occasional hot chocolate (weight watchers or options) or a decaf coffee if I’m cold! 🙂
