Home-popped popcorn is a seriously healthy treat. Per cup it provides just 30 calories and being a whole-grain is a great source of fibre. You can get some great skinny popcorns from the shops (check out my Skinny Topcorn review) however the majority of popcorn (yes the buttery and toffee popcorns) are loaded with extra fat and sugar.. all unnecessary calories. With this recipe you can skip the added fat/sugar and choose exactly what toppings you want - my favourite has to be stevia (natural sweetener) & cinnamon!


  • 2 tbsp (20g) popping corn
  • Spray oil - optional
  • Salt - optional
  • Granulated stevia - optional
  • Cocoa - optional
  • Cinnamon - optional


Step 1

Add your popcorn to a heat-proof (NOT plastic) bowl

Step 2

Add your spray oil (optional) then cover and microwave for 4-6 minutes (until the popping slows down)

Step 3

Be careful when taking the bowl out of the microwave (it will be hot!)

Step 4

Add your chosen topping and munch away guilt free!!
