GLORIOUS! SkinnyLicious Healthy Soup Review

GLORIOUS! SkinnyLicious Healthy Soup Review

Do you like soup?! Soup for me is one of my go-to healthy lunch options. It’s my staple in the winter and then essential in the summer when I haven’t had time to prepare a salad to take to work (or if I’ve simply run out of ingredients to make one with!). Although the idea of making my own soup at home is appealing, it’s time consuming, requires thought and. well. ingredients (!), which is why at least one carton of fresh soup nearly always sits at the back of my fridge – just waiting to be taken to work and heated up!!

But which soup do you go for, and what should you look at on the label?! I first discovered the GLORIOUS! SkinnyLicious range a couple of years ago in Asda, and I’m not going to lie, it was the name that caught my eye!! After scrutinising the label (ingredients list/nutritional break down) I was sold.. and the taste meant that I re-purchased (especially when they were on offer for £1 a tub!).

Glorious Soups

The SkinnyLicious healthy soups by GLORIOUS! use delicious low calorie recipes, each providing less than 2% fat and under 150 calories per portion – this means that they make an ideal filling snack between meals or a very filling lunch if you have the whole pot (2 portions). I personally tend to buy fresh soups rather than tinned as they a) tend to taste better and b) tend to contain less salt. It also (in my opinion) seems that fresh soups are more “home-made” and they contain fewer preservatives. If you only ever look at one thing on the food label though check out the ingredients list – if the product contains real foods that you can pronounce and have heard of then you’ll usually be ok 😉 – just as long as sugar isn’t one of the first three!

The soups honestly taste amazing (thanks to the array of worldwide flavours and exciting spice mixes), do not contain any flavour enhancers or artificial colours and are all vegetarian too. My personal favourite flavours are:

  • Goa Express: Made from tomatoes & lentils this soups packs in almost 7g protein per 1/2 pot (keeping us fuller for longer!) and has the perfect blend of cumin, chilli, paprika and natural yoghurt.

&

  • San Antonio FiestaAn amazing mix of black eye beans, haricot beans, black turtle beans and red kidney beans – this soup provides over 5g fibre per 1/2 a pot – it’s both filling & delicious!!

Glorious Soups

There are a few new flavours out too which I cannot wait to try so I will no doubt be reporting back on social media (as always!) and will update this blog post in due course. The soups come in 600g pots and in my opinion taste great either on their own or wish some rye crackers or a granary roll – they take literally minutes to heat either in the microwave or on the hob and  make healthy eating the easy option!

Have you tried the GLORIOUS! SkinnyLicious soup range before? And if so, which flavour should I try next?!

I love soups and have them at work every week, but I make them at home from scratch and they don’t really take too long as I don’t use meat in them. Some of my favourite soups are red lentil and carrot soup and asparagus and broccoli soup (you can find them on my blog).
I haven’t tried any of SkinnyLicious soups yet but I will definitely check them out now that I’ve seen them here. Sometimes I don’t have time to make soup from scratch and it would be great to buy a healthy soup instead.

How can I purchase these soups and have them shipped to the US?
