We\u2019re now well and truly into 2016 (it\u2019s gone so quick!), and this blog post and video are all about how to keep your motivation and energy levels up in order to achieve those health and fitness related goals that you set at the start of the year.<\/p>\n

Use Spring to reassess how you\u2019re progressing and plan what you would like to achieve by the summer; you have three months to give it your all and here are my five top tips on getting back on track even if your motivation levels are falling!<\/p>\n

<\/iframe><\/p>\n <\/p>\nTip 1) Get inspired with something new!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nWhether it\u2019s a new healthy recipe book, a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/gp\/search\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_sr_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=6738&index=aps&keywords=sage%20blender&linkCode=ur2&tag=nicsnut-21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new blender<\/a>\u00a0or a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/click.linksynergy.com\/fs-bin\/click?id=WH*p9E5w\/zI&subid=&offerid=348366.1&type=10&tmpid=10520&RD_PARM1=http%253A%252F%252Fwww.sweatybetty.com%252Fclothing%252Fall-tops%252F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new gym top<\/a>, treat yourself to something that will help you to achieve your goals. Getting healthy isn\u2019t about an end result, it\u2019s about creating a fun and appealing lifestyle longer term and adding in something fresh and new can often help with motivation levels and inspiration, giving you a burst of energy to put into your new routine.<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-8482 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/nicsnutrition.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Screen-Shot-2016-03-08-at-18.14.04-1024x605.png\" alt=\"Sweaty Betty T-Shirt\" width=\"590\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n <\/p>\nTip 2) Use your phone (wisely!)<\/strong><\/p>\nThere are so many health apps that can support you with both health related goals and motivation. Two of my favourites are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myfitnesspal.com\">Myfitnesspal<\/a>,<\/b> which you can use to track the food you eat and the nutritional content, as well as your activity and weight. And the other is the <a href=\"http:\/\/nicsnutrition.com\/misfit-activity-tracker-review\/\">Misfit App<\/a>,<\/b> which tracks my daily steps, as well as calories burned and total distance travelled during exercise. I really love it when apps sync up with your friends who have the same goals or same fitness devices so that you can have a bit of healthy competition – it can really spur you on to either eat more healthily or give you the energy to get moving!<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-8484 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/nicsnutrition.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/IMG_1783-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Misfit App\" width=\"590\" height=\"392\" \/><\/p>\n <\/p>\nTip 3) Get Seasonal\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nWhat you eat has such a huge effect on your overall health and my tip is to eat with the seasons. Any time of year is a good time to eat fruits and vegetables, but right now, apples, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and grapefruit are in season, so stock up!<\/p>\nIf you struggle to to get all of the nutrients that you need every day, then taking a daily multivitamin as a backup may be a good option. I\u2019ve recently been trying out multivitamin\u00a0from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/\">Alive! called \u2018Women\u2019s Energy\u2019<\/a>, which\u00a0come as a Soft Jell (and taste so delicious!!), and are made with orange and berry\u00a0 natural fruit flavours. More importantly though, they contain a whole host of vitamins and minerals to keep you feeling your best including Vitamin D, which many people are deficient in at this time of the year, and the full Vitamin B complex which is great for energy levels as it helps our bodies to use the food that we eat as fuel. They\u00a0also contains Biotin, which can help maintain our hair and skin, as well as Zinc which helps support normal fertility and reproduction – they really are a great all-rounder!<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/nicsnutrition.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1145.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-8291 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/nicsnutrition.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_1145-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Vitamin C\" width=\"590\" height=\"392\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\nTip 4) Meal Plan!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nIt\u2019s a good idea to plan what you\u2019re going to eat for the week so that you can buy what food you need in advance, and it means that when you get home after a long day there\u2019s no need to stress about what you\u2019re having for dinner. By planning ahead you can make sure that your whole week is filled with healthy and well-balanced meals that will keep your energy levels up throughout the day. And don\u2019t forget the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\">80\/20 rule<\/a>; if you\u2019re eating healthy, whole foods for the majority of the time then the other 20% won\u2019t matter!<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-8483 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/nicsnutrition.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Screen-Shot-2016-03-06-at-08.59.02.png\" alt=\"Meal Planning\" width=\"618\" height=\"339\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\nTip 5) Get social!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nSharing your goals with others face to face or online can be a huge motivator. I for one love seeing people\u2019s progress pictures of a new healthy lifestyle journey and it can really spur you on to hear what others think too. Positive messages from your circle of friends and family can give you the energy to keep going and achieve your goals.<\/p>\nSocial media such as Twitter, Instagram, <a href=\"https:\/\/uk.pinterest.com\/nicsnutrition\/\">Pinterest<\/a>\u00a0and blog posts can also be really inspirational.
