Nichola Ludlam-Raine is a UK Specialist Registered Dietitian (RD) and she has a passion for promoting easy to understand nutrition and diet tips. She started blogging in January 2012 as a way of promoting healthy eating messages in a readable and accessible manner.
Nichola has a background in Sport, having graduated with a First Class Honours degree in BSc Sport & Exercise Science from Loughborough University, and specialised in Nutrition with a Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics from Leeds Metropolitan University to become an RD in 2009. Since qualifying, Nichola has achieved an MSc in Health Science and she is a certified X-PERT diabetes educator. She is also a regular on the BBC Breakfast sofa.
Nichola currently specialises in Diabesity and Bariatrics and works for the NHS as well as privately. Her blog is her passion and hobby.
Blogging/Social Media Tip: Blog because you want to, and write about what interests you. Listen to what your readers like and want more of. Thank your readers for their input and acknowledge their presence on social media – interact, interact, interact! Think of blogging as an enjoyable hobby and not a job/chore.. you are your own boss when you write a blog, and you make the rules! And if you’re thinking about blogging – just go for it, I’ve never regretted it!
Helen West is a UK Registered Dietitian and graduate of the International Olympic Committees Diploma in Sports Nutrition with over 4 years clinical nutrition experience. She has a strong working knowledge of a number of specialist areas including Gastroenterology, Colorectal and Upper GI Surgery, Critical Care, Renal Disease, Diabetes and Weight Management.
Helen recently took some time out to live life to the full in Bali with her husband, but is now back in the UK and has now set up the very successful Rooted Project; promoting evidence based messaged to the masses. In Bali, far from leaving her interest in nutrition behind, Helen volunteered alongside leaders in the world of performance surfing to develop some nutritional guidelines for athletes training in Indonesia. An active presence on social media, you can find her thoughts and insights into nutritional issues, health and wellness on her blog Food & Nonsense.
Blogging/Social Media Tip: Your blog is your own little bit of the internet so don’t be afraid to be yourself and find your own blogging ‘voice’. Support and promote other bloggers – if you read something you enjoy, share it! It’s a great way to build online relationships and a blogging network.
Gemma Sampson has a Bachelor of Nutrition & Dietetics from the University of Wollongong in Australia and a Masters in Public Health Nutrition from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Since graduating in 2008 Gemma has worked in a variety of clinical positions between Australia and the UK including rehabilitation, nutrition support and oncology as well as within industry in coeliac disease and inherited metabolic disorders.
Passionate about sharing trustworthy nutrition advice, in her spare time Gemma is a media spokesperson for the Association of UK Dietitians (BDA) and blogs regularly at Dietitian without Borders.
Blogging/Social Media Tip: Always use and refer to reputable, high quality sources of nutritional information so that if ever challenged you can prove where your advice came from and ensure it is evidence based!
Priya Tew is an experienced and Registered Dietitian and nutrition professional with a degree in Nutritional Sciences and a Masters in Dietetics. She is registered with the Health Professions Council and the British Dietetic Association. As a Media Spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association she is often found quoted in the press and was a finalist for BDA Spokesperson of the Year 2014.
With wide ranging experience both within the NHS and as a freelance dietitian Priya offers an inventive and fresh approach to nutrition. Priya is a specialist in eating disorders but also works in a variety of other fields including IBS, weight management, food intolerances, consultancy, community and media work.
Blogging/Social Media Tip: The world of social media is all about being social! So spend time interacting, jump into twitter chats and networking hours, offer advice to others and ask questions. It takes time to build up your own community and build your blogging confidence, but it can open up a whole new world of opportunity.
