Protein bread usually costs a small fortune .. which is why I’m posting a recipe which means that you can make it at home! This homemade protein bread is gluten free (check the oats are certified gluten free if you are intolerant) and dairy free and is super simple to make.
This recipe uses unflavoured whey protein (to make a savoury bread) and the ingredients can easily be doubled or tripled etc to make bigger batches. The end bread makes great small sandwich, toasted or as a base for a delicious topping (aka open sandwich – my preference as you can get more filling on!). If you make the bread into a circle shape then you can also make a nice wrap – just pour the mixture into the pan and spread it out to make it thin.
This home-made protein bread recipe is honestly super simple to make, uses hardly any ingredients and it cooks super fast – you can even make the mixture the night before, store it in the fridge overnight and cook it fresh the next day.
Nutritional stats provided (to the right) are provided per slice (1/3 mixture)!
- 1 scoop unflavoured whey protein*
- 15g rolled oats
- 1 whole egg
- 1 egg white
- 1 tsp olive oil
- Spray oil for frying

Add all of the ingredients into a food processor and blend well.
Pour 1/3 of the mixture into a pan and whilst the mixture is runny shape into a square shape to resemble bread (don't worry if it's not perfect as you can always chop off the sides after or make round wraps!).
Fry the mixture for a few moments until ready to flip and then fry for a few more moments until the mixture is firm. Repeat until all of the mixture has gone.
Serve topped with your choice of protein - I chose scrambled eggs with spring onion & tomato ketchup :)
