If you’re looking for healthy party snack recipes then you’ve found them! Dips and chips are the ideal ‘finger food’ and the recipes below can be whipped up in super quick time.

I’ve blogged a healthy hummus recipe previously, but this one is slightly different and never before have I tried a dip based around beetroot (it tastes better than it sounds!) or making my own guacamole (which tastes so good that I’m never going to buy shop bought again!).

The recipes below are actually taken from Sainsbury’s new ‘healthier recipe collection’ book (which is brilliant!) and I’m happy to say that I’ve got 10 to giveaway as well (this giveaway is now closed – sorry!).

So, to see how to make three delicious and healthy dips (which your friends will love as much as you!!), as well as healthy chips (healthy dipping crisps!) carry on reading :) .

Healthy Guacamole

Healthy Guacamole Dip

  • Ingredients & Method

Peel, destone and mash 1 ripe avocado in a bowl. Add 1 halved, deseeded and diced tomato, 2 trimmed and sliced spring onions, 1 deseeded and finely chopped red chilli (I used a pinch of chilli flakes instead), 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves (I skipped this!), 1/4 tsp spicy chipotle paste (this stuff smells amazing!!) and the juice of 1 lime (I used lemon). Mix together and season with black pepper. Garnish with coriander.

  • Nutrition Stats

A 1/4 of the dip provides 78 calories, 2g carbs, 7g fat & 1g protein.

Chunks Houmous with Pine Nuts

Healthy Hummus Dip

  • Ingredients & Method

Drain and rinse a 400g tin chickpeas and tip into a bowl (I tipped them into a food processor instead!). Add 1 finely chopped clove garlic, the juice of 1/2 lemon, a pinch of crushed dried chillies, 1 tsp ground cumin, 4 tbsp fat-free natural yoghurt and 3 tbsp tahini paste (sesame seed paste). Stir well, then mash into a thick puree (or blend for a few seconds in a food processor). Add 3 tbsp cold water to thin the houmous, if needed, then mix, adding more water if necessary (I skipped adding water!). Season with black pepper and more lemon juice, if desired. Toast 1 tbsp pine nuts in a frying pan for 1 minute until golden, shaking occasionally – scatter them over the dip to serve (I didn’t actually end up toasting mine!).

  • Nutrition Stats

An 1/8th of the dip provides 98 calories,  6g carbs, 6g fat & 4g protein.

Healthy Beetroot Dip

Healthy Beetroot Dip

  • Ingredients & Method

Preheat the oven to 200 C, fan 180 C, gas 6 (NB I used pre-cooked beetroot so skipped the roasting step and just added all of the ingredients into a food processor instead!). Trim and peel 500g bunched beetroot and cut each into 8 wedges. Put in a large bowl with 2 tbsp vegetable oil (I didn’t add this to the food processor), 1 tsp caraway seeds and 1 tsp ground coriander. Mix to coat. Put the beetroot on a baking sheet and roast for 30 mins. Remove from the oven and put in a food processor with a 400g tin butter beans, drained and rinsed, and 100ml Sainsbury’s be good to yourself soured cream. Blitz to make a thick consistency.

  • Nutrition Stats

An 1/8th of the dip provides 98 calories,  10g carbs, 2g fat & 4g protein.

Tortilla Wrap Chips

Healthy Tortilla Chips

  • Ingredients & Method

Preheat the oven to 180 C, fan 160 C, gas 4. Brush 2 flour tortillas (I used wholemeal for added fibre) with 1/2 tbsp rapeseed oil, then cut into triangles. Put onto 2 baking trays in a single layer and cook in the oven for 8-10 mins, until golden and crisp. Serve with the dips above!

  • Nutrition Stats

A 1/4 of the chips provide 99 calories,  49g carbs, 3g fat & 8g protein.

And enjoy! :) .
