Chocolate Black Bean Cookies

Cookies.. made from black beans?! Yes, it may sounds crazy but DON’T knock it until you’ve tried it!! These cookies taste amazing and most importantly, are full of super healthy ingredients and are quick & easy to make.

Straight out of the oven these cookies are super soft (and totally yummy, take it from me!!), but once cooled (and stored in the fridge), they firm up to become the most beautiful chocolate bites ever.

*I found black beans in Morrisons – My local Asda didn’t sell them!

**To make this recipe gluten free use gluten free oats.

***I used xylitol

    Hi Nic, these look amazing! I’ve got a nut allergy though – is the nut butter essential or could I make without/could you suggest an alternative? x

    Made these today tasted amazing! My boyfriend also loved and didn’t tell him that there were black beans in them! You cant taste them at all! I added roughly chopped hazelnuts to mine. Will use a little more milk next time as I couldn’t really flatten them out (the mixture will not spread whilst in oven like some cookies do) so mine were more ball shaped but turned out nice! Try them!

    just made these….and just tasted…..absolutely delicious!!! Only one problem…..they’re so moreish its going to be hard to stop at one!! Love the undertone of peanut butter that comes through. Didn’t have any chocolate chips this time so will add next time to compare. Any healthy oaty biscuit recipes would be greatly appreciated, the boyf has requested 🙂

    Loved making the black bean cookies, tasted so delicious can’t wait to play around with quantities of extras! Think I went a bit coconut mad first time round! Very good recipe! One question where do you get your coconut oil from?!?? Xxx

    Just made these and I’ve eaten 6 of them already as they are so tasty – I served with extra PB and 85% cocoa choc chunks, sprinkles & shavings. All organic too. Thanks for another great recipe! *

    I absolutely love all your recipes so was very excited to try these! I used honey instead of stevia though and the taste was really good but they turned out so dry? Like it was hard to swallow them.. Do you have any idea what went wrong or which ingredient I could use more/less of to prevent this?

    Made a batch of these on Saturday night and OMG they are the best little chocolate craving fixer-upper ever! the boyf loved them and wouldnt have know they had black beans in them! I added some coonut to mine :o) will definitely make more again and maybe add some protein powder for an extra protein fix!

    I wanted to make these this weekend and was wondering if coconut flour could be substiuted for the oat flour?

      Hello! Coconut flour is a weird one – it absorbs liquid like mad so you may need to add more egg white/milk to the mixture. Let me know how it goes! xx P.s to make oat flour just blend oats in a blender!

    I searched high and low in my local (huge!) Tesco and couldn’t find black beans! The closest I could find was black-eyed beans. I was too scared to try any other bean though in case it didn’t work properly! Any suggestions for bean substitutes? I really want to make these tonight!
